Amazing recap of another packed week.

Brittlestar may be giving much too much credit to our Craigie/PC Tinker. Unless he really did pick up super sleuthing & interview skills while on the CID secondment, I seriously doubt he’s got the smarts to play along with Kit. Is this crap character developmental? He wouldn’t have had the CID chance if he was Kirkie level dense.

Yes, the Joel/Lauren scenes were again a master class in acting. Yes, he’s got his eye on Betsey as his next victim. But oh, that character is annoying. How can she play her DS mum who never misses ANYTHING? I’d expect Swain to have her on a short leash.

Carla: oh my yes, Shannon nailed everything I thought. Poor writing/continuity.

I think /hope Kit will buy the house and let Chesney & fam live there rent free unless he’s got more nefarious plans as part of his need for payback.

Carla doored that YOB on the bike hard and yet there wasn't a scratch on her car door? That was a bit hard to believe. We are also calling it that Kit steps up to by the house for the quad squad

Kit buys the house…..but I say there are strings.

Bernie breaks up with Dev (hope not!) but can’t move in?

I thought about Kit buying the house also.

Oh!! I hadn’t thought of that. Yes, I think you are correct! And he does certainly seem financially comfortable.

I agree that Craig is not devious enough to come up with such a plan although he does seem to be fawning over Kit a bit much.

Thanks again for another great episode.

I don't blame Amy for being creeped out by AI Oliver, and I'm hoping she's not actually going to join the Institute, but is just playing along to help expose them for what they are. I'm so glad Leanne finally realized that Nick was right about investing the $ in the institute, but I have a feeling it's not going to end that easily.

As for Gemma and Chesney, I thought when all this renoviction storyline started, that the natural solution was for Linda to buy the house, and "rent to own" it to Gem & Ches. Linda taking Joseph to lighten the load is not the answer, and I don't blame Gemma for being against it.

I'm so glad Craig didn't divulge his indiscretion to Kit, but on the other hand, I don't think Craig should have gotten away with it. It's kind of a pot/kettle situation with one dirty cop trying to take down another dirty cop.

Does YOB actually stand for something? I know what it means, but is it some sort of derogatory UK abbreviation.

The entire Lauren/Joel episodes were so well written and acted. Loved Joel describing what happened after he left the flat vs what we actually saw onscreen. I don't think Lauren is going to spill the beans about Joel to the cops yet. She's just too scared.

One humorous line I enjoyed was Kirk telling Mary that Beth was volunteering at the food bank (or something like that) and Mary replying "that doesn't sound like her!" lol

I agree that Craig shouldn’t have gotten away with that - he was NOT preventing a misunderstanding/injustice from being overlooked. His hands were filthy!

I hadn’t thought about yob being an acronym but you may be right! Also the UK don’t tend to capitalize acronyms. The Y could be for young/youth…

I decided to google.

yob is backslang for boy. According to wikipedia "The word itself is a product of back slang, a process whereby new words are created by spelling or pronouncing existing words backwards. The word yob is thus derived from the word boy. It only began to acquire a derogatory connotation in the 1930s."

And now we know! lol

I'll tell you one thing. We're loving Betsy's introduction to the cast far more that Bobbie! I get a overtone of she knows her Mom is a copper and figures she can get away with anything because she'll always bail her out. But the scene where her and Carla have the little heart to heart in the flat and she admits she was pushing to far with the black mail was very well done. You get a glimpse of she's not as tuff as she shows herself to be.

We're really enjoying the Joel and Lauren story. Can't wait till he gets whats coming to him. Lauren is being really well portrayed. I sure feel for the poor girl. She feels so trapped.

P.S. So many great people in these comments. I look forward to reading them every week. A bit shocked to be called out by Rowan.... I mean, Brittlestar, like that! (Can't wait to tell my wife. I can already feel her rolling her eyes at me!)

I still think Betsy is a clever and manipulative character and only backed off with Carla for her own benefit - she needs to keep that threat in her back pocket!

I agree with Brittlestar that Joel will lose it and put Didi in danger somehow before this storyline ends.

Maybe Deidre's inheritance is from a life insurance policy.

I loved the Tintin reference. You had to be quick to catch it.

Dramatic episodes, but remember we still have to live through Paul's story. (Not a spoiler, you know the end will be devastating.)

Yes I’m dreading poor Paul’s storyline!

No wonder Lauren was missing so long, she had all those lines to learn. I agree the recent scenes between her and Joel were excellently done.

That Betsy Swain is quite the opportunist!

I think Craig’s character was smarter when he was a teenager.

I can’t understand how Deidre, who I think worked for the council, would have a lot of money to leave Amy.

Did anyone else notice Leanne’s blue dress matches the bistro’s decor?

Wasn’t Deirdre wrongfully convicted? Maybe a settlement from that?
