Nathan has been the perfect scapegoat for the crime* against Lauren. Joel must be quite thrilled that he came back to the area. But how many more victims could be on his list: Hope, Bethany, Sarah, Ellie, DeeDee? Of course Nathan wouldn’t be blamed if any of those were harmed as he’s locked up. * Not convinced yet evidence shows Lauren was killed.

Wasn’t it peaceful while Leanne was away. The AI video of Oliver was very creepy. How much a month will that cost her?

Black cab and a long shot of the street; farewell Simon. Fair winds and following seas.

Despite working with children at Little Big Shots I can’t picture Glenda mothering Glory.

Glad Kevin realized Cassie was always stirring the pot. I’m sure she is involved somehow in the videos but that could be just bias as I’ve never liked her. Is Dev still paying £5000/month for keeping Asha’s photos off the web?

Joel’s mom should have changed her hairstyle from that of Mrs. Bright ( Endeavour) If DeeDee had a ring she’d be flashing it around the pub.

Now Bethany is suspicious of Joel. I know you Stuart don’t like people putting her down but does she always have that bad smell look on her face? The credit card - didn’t Roy fire Lauren for rifling through Bethany’s purse?

And who has Toyah supposedly murdered?

Shannon's avatar

Ooooohhhhh the Lauren in the purse thing. That had forgotten about that! I think you may be correct!

And the bad smell is a VERY accurate description of Bethany 😄

I think Toyah is being arrested for the murder of her still birth she secretly buried (storyline from 20yrs ago only revealed recently to viewers).

Debra L's avatar

Then that means Leanne uploaded something that wasn’t her’s to share.

JoanneTL's avatar

but Rowan was also recording her - possibly without telling her.. I don't understand why Leanne is such a target for Rowa anyways - she's not that rich, is she? They always seem to be on the edge finanically.

Debra L's avatar

Bethany still has her credit card. I’m not sure if Lauren had enough time to memorize the credit card number because we didn’t even see her take the five pound note. At the time I thought Bethany had falsely accused Lauren.

Is anyone keeping track of how many people from The Street have spent time in the Big House? Does everyone in England go to prison at least once in their life?

Shannon's avatar

I’m more concerned if anywhere else has as many residents who have gotten away with murder! Looking at you Tracy and Gary!

JoanneTL's avatar

but I think Tracy did serve some time, didn't she, for that whack on the head she delivered?

Shannon's avatar

How did she get out so fast? I thought something was overturned rather than a light self defense sentence?

Melanie's avatar

She did go to prison, yes.

MURDERERS & JAILBIRDS

(but just the ones I can remember today)

Jim MacDonald, Steve’s dad, several times, usually assault or robbery.

Gail Platt, murder but eventually exonerated.

David Platt, youth facility for pushing Gail down the stairs

Max Platt, youth facility for terrorism.

Richard Hillman, one of Gail’s many husbands; killed Maxine Peacock but drowned attempting to kill Gail, David & Sarah, maybe Bethany.

Deidre Barlow/Rachid, fraud but eventually exonerated.

Tracy Barlow, murdered her boyfriend; can’t remember why she didn’t serve her full sentence.

Abi Webster, imprisoned as she took the blame for something Seb had done.

Sally Webster/Metcalf; in prison at the same time as Abi, framed for some political scam.

Rob Connor; Carla’s brother & Bobby’s dad, currently in prison for killing Tina Macintyre.

Pat Phelan, Eileen’s husband, murdered and ruined so many lives I think even the writers lost count. In the end he was killed by Anna Windass, Gary’s mom, which was quite an annoying end to that plot as he really deserved to go to prison. (I felt the same way about Tim’s dad’s demise)

Faye Windass, custodial sentence for attacking Adam whom she mistook for the man who sexually assaulted her.

Gary Windass killed Kelly’s dad but as yet not found out by the police.

Bernie does she have a last name? - for theft

Stu, another one whose last name I can’t recall, confessed & served time for a murder he didn’t commit.

Thanks Cathie for the wealth of information!

@Brittlestar's sidelong glance at the camera 40:40 is killing me.

Shannon's avatar

Ha!! Thanks for ratting on him 😄

When Bobby said he was going to move out I started looking up numbers for black cab companies to call him one! Bye Bobby! Carla is going to need the room in the flat to entertain Lisa Swain and doesn't need Bobby cramping her style.

I think Roy threw the chess match so Sam would win and would leave quickly.

I was waiting for George to get scammed out of the money doing the automated phone bank transfer. That just seemed odd.

The writers are totally setting up Nick and Toya. I can see Nick coming to Toya's rescue and that being the last straw for Leanne.

One minor note... Was this episode of the podcast recorded differently? The audio sounded different from the previous episodes.

Brittlestar's avatar

Yes, on the audio! Normally the show is produced by our son, Owen, but this week he wasn't available so it was me. A step down! We'll return to his skillful ears soon!

JoanneTL's avatar

yes, please let Bobby go! Still don't see Carla walking both sides of the street but I guess we'll see! I really don't want Nick and Toyah together..too easy.

You're sharp on the audio - I didn't notice!

I agree that I think Nick and Toyah would be a good match but soooooo much baggage!! Mind you, if it means no more Platts or Janice it suddenly sounds like an easy choice 😄

Does anyone think there is a connection between the deep fake Oliver video and the ones of Abby? I don’t see a connection between her and the cult, but I don’t think it’s Max and Cassie surely hasn’t got the skills, unless she hired someone to do it. In other news, Glenda & Michael are getting a bit flirty… I think they are both sweet people who would be good for each other, except that they’re both big dreamers who might lead each other astray.

Shannon's avatar

Or are the two deep fake situations just letting us old fogeys know this can be and is done!?

JoanneTL's avatar

I can't see Glenda and Michael as a couple either but who knows - it does seem to be moving that way.

The Leanne/Rowan/Institute storyline came out of nowhere. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Leanne had finally been in a happy place after the terrible diagnosis and death of Oliver (about 5 yrs ago max, Shannon). And in comes predator Rowan. (Another kind of predator than Nathan and Joel, but a predator still). And also, Toyah's never before revealed teenage pregnancy and baby. The writers really need to stop developing these storylines out of left field and pay as much attention to continuity as we do, LOL.

Shannon's avatar

Rowan and the Institute snuck in to the story when Simon was searching for a ‘group’ he could attend for alcohol issues. From that point on I feel they’ve done an okay job showing how these groups infiltrate a family or social group. But I have ZERO clue how they counted as a court mandated alcohol recovery group!!

I agree Leanne did seem much better. But I can imagine Simon explaining his home life would give the Institute incentive to go after Leanne.

Margaret's avatar

Okay, I guess that happened during the three weeks I missed in April (I was in Cuba, which seems so long ago now). I see that the Institute storyline hasn’t come out of left field. It makes much more sense. Agree about the Institute being a Court-mandated alcohol recovery group.

I wondered whether Joel's stained tie will come back to haunt him...someone thinks the training faint red stain is blood, he gets taken in, which leads to the police finding something else to implicate him.

Does anyone else think that Joel and Kit are somehow connected in this?

My first thought about the Oliver thing was Steve. How come Nick and Toya didn't go directly to him?

I will miss Simon. Even as a young boy that actor was very good at the scarcastic reactions.

I loved the fine china remark, too.

Shannon's avatar

I think we are going to find a Kit Joel connection as well. Someone last week reminded us that Nathan’s ring involved police officers.

Mike Ferrell's avatar

I'm not sure about that. I think there would have been some 'knowing' glances when it was revealed that they found the planted evidence in the van between Joel and Kit. Joel seemed genuinely surprised (gleefully so) at the evidence at that point.

JoanneTL's avatar

what do you mean about Steve and Oliver? You think they should be telling Steve what Leanne is doing?

JoanneTL's avatar

There are no such things as secrets, even among "professionals" or stories told in confidence.! Quite shocking really, but necessary of course. Are you disappointed in Bethany, Brittlestar? Heroism aka Bethany - did I miss that scene?

Carla and DS Swain? Really? Has Carla ever showed any interest in that way before?

Roy is royangry! But he's right - no more alone time with children... public activities only. Nina was definitely in the wrong there. Hopefully Sam and Roy can resume their friendship in other ways.

That taunting teasing game is annoying... never really like Pretty Woman, anyways.

I totally missed the credit card issue with Bethany!

Why is Joel so desperate to snag DeeDee? I found it strange that her father was pushing her to accept the proposal, also surprised that she caved. Regardless, she is looking good, better all the time, eyerolls and all...

Nick finally got mad! I enjoyed seeing that but I TOTALLY missed who Leeanne was talking to on her computer! I really have to pay more attention - who knows what else I've missed over the years?

Thanks again - it was nice to receive on Monday before I'd watched any new episodes but I appreciate it no matter when it arrive!

Mike Ferrell's avatar

We were asking ourselves the same question about Carla but it sure seems her and Lisa Swain are hitting it off. It's going to be interesting where she moves to with her daughter on the street.

JoanneTL's avatar

Okay, solved my own mystery.... I missed watching the last episode from last week! So much happened! Agree, the AI recreation of Oliver is creepy. I loved Nick's last line to Leanne and her expression.... "you'd better not be lying to me..."

Debra L's avatar

Would someone please fill me in on the story of Oliver. When did he die? What happened?

Shannon's avatar

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong /fill in the details!

He was Steve and Leanne’s baby (I think from a one night stand?). Turned out he had some congenital condition where by the time he was about a year old they knew he wouldn’t survive. I think he maybe lived to about 3? Passed away probably 5-7 years ago.

Mike Ferrell's avatar

Wasn't Michelle also pregnant by Steve at the same time? I think she miscarried and left when she found out about Oliver. I seem to recall Oliver was in the hospital most of his life. Or it sure seemed that way.

Shannon's avatar

Hmmmmm yes she may have been! My memories of Oliver are more of him in a stroller. But all very fuzzy!

Rory! That was it! I do miss Michelle. I wish when Ryan was attacked she could have showed up for a few scenes. We still hold out hope that Becky will return from the Caribbean one day with the biggest hoop ear rings ever.

JoanneTL's avatar

I'd have to find a photo to remind me of Michelle - yes my memory is that bad.. I DO remember Becky, though, she was fun! Another wild card...

Thank you Shannon!

We also got a chuckle out of the Max Headroom line. Probably the demographic of a typical Corrie audience is the right age for that line to hit perfect.

The new website for Webster's Garage would be the other recent 'tech' storyline.
